
Laura Barfield Baxter
Laura has practiced law for the past eighteen years, and is licensed in Tennessee and Georgia. Laura’s focus includes simple and complex estate planning, conservatorships, probate matters, and corporate work. Laura practiced law in Macon and Alpharetta, Georgia for the first part of her career. While in Macon, Laura had exposure to a wide variety of corporate transactional work, estate planning, probate issues, and business litigation. In Alpharetta, Laura was a partner at a boutique estate planning firm, handling multifaceted aspects of estate planning including probate litigation. Laura is still of counsel with that firm.
Laura obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in 1998, with a B.A. in English and Political Science. Following graduation, she decided to pursue a law degree while working at a non-profit organization in Charlotte, North Carolina, realizing that a law degree would be a useful tool in serving others. Laura attended Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia, graduating in 2004. She was a member of Mercer’s Moot Court Board and served as a student coach.
Laura is a native of Perry, Georgia. She and her husband, Jamie, have one daughter, Kate, and two miniature Australian Shepherds, Nickels and Oliver. She lives with her family in Franklin, Tennessee.
